To familiarize yourself with ABSENT , two fictitious employees have been entered along with some fictitious absences (you may delete these records later). You will first need to print the employee reports under option 3 of the MAIN MENU.Select option 1 to print a summary of ALL absences and option 2 for a detailed print of ALL absences. The reports contain graphics characters and will "look" much better on IBM printers or printers emulating the "IBM proprinter" (which are capable of printing graphics characters), however they will print on any printer . On both of the reports you will notice the Employee Number. This is the key to navigating your way through the process of entering and deleting employees , as well as entering and editing absence records. Before you can enter an absence for any employee you must first enter information about that employee, including the employee number. This "Employee Number" may be a number or text or a combination but must be unique for each employee. Enter employee information by selecting option 2 from the MAIN MENU and selecting "Enter New Employees" from the EMPLOYEE DATA MENU. When entering employee information you WILL NOT be allowed to enter or edit the number of Instances or the total number of days absent, these will be automatically calculated as you enter the detailed records of each absence. The instances and number of days will appear on the employee data sheet as they are accumulated. Using the reports that were just printed, practice entering new absence records for the 2 employees using their employee number. Edit some of the absence records by using both the employee number and the beginning date of the absence from the report. Edit the employee data using the employee number and add one of your own fake employees and enter some absences for your employee (Employees will not print on the absence reports unless they have some kind of absence, they will always print on the EMPLOYEE DATA REPORT ). Reprint the report to see the automatic recalculation of total days missed and number of instances missed. When finished practicing delete the employees using the "Delete an Employee" option from the "EMPLOYEE DATA MENU". ----------------end-of-author's-documentation--------------- Software Library Information: This disk copy provided as a service of Public (software) Library We are not the authors of this program, nor are we associated with the author in any way other than as a distributor of the program in accordance with the author's terms of distribution.
